Making Bead Necklaces

I've been having a great time making my own bead necklaces. This one is a carved clay raku fired bear spirit mask with pewter freshwater pearls, square hematite, coral, and polished lava rock beads. The coral looks like teeth.
This one is available for purchase here

And here's another one I call a "cleavage tickler" because the bar of hematite falls on the cleavage. It's tiny freshwater pearls. A delicate necklace, but a little sexy.
It's available for purchase here

Moonlit Tree oil painting

It took a long time to finish this Moonlit Tree oil painting, what with re-arranging stuff in the studio, getting ready for my niece's wedding and my daughter's graduation. It took a while, but I'm finally happy with it. A soft moon behind a gnarled tree on a deep blue night.

It's been a busy time with my son Cerulean's end of school year activities,
my niece Celine's wedding (she also graduated from Vet school),
and my daughter Celadon's graduation from Cardozo Law School in NYC.

And the contractor installed a utility sink in my basement studio! What a difference running water in the studio makes. Silk painting classes have started on both Saturdays and Sundays.

One year ago today the 9.0 earthquake struck

One of my favorite kiln sites in Japan, Mashiko, was severely damaged from the quake. The historically famous Hamada museum took a hit. Please donate and help the village rebuild their kilns and their museum:

Calla Lillies Commission Painting Finished and delivered!

This is a commission for a lovely lady here in Atlanta. Calla lilies are supposed to mean "magnificent beauty" and also has a "spiritually pure" meaning.
