Another Fiber Work in Progress




Discharged, silk dye painted, wax resist, stitching..
Still working on this piece. Progress on left.

This is sooo cool! Do you have a price list for your meditation boards? I'm still interested in getting one. I'm hoping I can meditate and get more creative through it's creator.

okay ... for a silk novice like me, what does it mean to discharge silk?

Hi Sheila, discharge means discharging dye and it's done with certain chemicals. In this piece I discharged the background cotton velvetten with SoftScrub. Can't use that on silk, though. However, with chlorine bleaching you should dip the fiber in an anti-chlorine solution to stop the bleaching process.

how cool! So I think I have an idea based on the stitches but what size is this?

It's supposed to be 18x18 for the Surface Design member show. originally I wanted to adhere it onto canvas, but since I'm mailing it I had to make it able to roll up into a box. The stitching is making it all distorted but it adds texture.
